The Collective Identity Research Center (CEIC) is affiliated with the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of the Basque Country (EHU, Bizkaia Campus) and has been the home of GAIT since 1997. It is directed by Benjamín Tejerina, with Ignacia Perugorría serving as Co-Director.
CEIC serves as the headquarters of the International Sociological Association’s (ISA) Research Committee on Social Movements, Collective Action and Social Change (RC48), and coordinates the New Far Rights Global Research Network, associated with ISA’s RC48 and RC47 (Social Classes and Social Movements).
The center brings together three generations of sociologists, leading or actively participating in competitive research projects funded through European, national, and regional calls. It also hosts visiting faculty and researchers, at both the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels.
Led by Joseba García Martín, the CEIC Seminar Series features public presentations of ongoing GAIT projects alongside contributions from external researchers, organized into two thematic cycles: “Social Mobilization, Citizen Engagement, and Popular Culture” (L2) and “Religion, Politics and Subjectivities in Movement” (L1).
